Area Development Agreement
A contract granting the right to open multiple franchise units within a defined geographic area over a set timeline.
An area development agreement commits the franchisee to opening a specific number of units within a designated territory according to a development schedule. This differs from a single-unit agreement because the developer secures rights to an entire area upfront, often paying a larger initial fee. Failure to meet the development schedule can result in losing the rights to future units or even termination of the agreement.
