UFOC (Uniform Franchise Offering Circular)
The predecessor document to the FDD that was used to disclose franchise information before 2008.
The UFOC was the standard disclosure document used in franchising from 1979 until it was replaced by the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) in 2008. The FTC updated the Franchise Rule and adopted the FDD format to modernize the disclosure process and provide greater clarity for prospective franchisees. You may still encounter references to the UFOC in older franchise materials or discussions, but all current franchise disclosures use the FDD format.
